Question for Mastodon’s #bike and #ebike crowd: Does anyone know of a good way for me to attach a second adult-size bike to mine to pull it as a trailer?

We don’t have the battery power to make it to the coast, but if my wife road the bus and I took the bikes that would give me extra battery availability and allow us to use the bikes to get around whatever town we decide to go to. We both have Lectric Xpeditions.

So am I an idiot that missed some signs somewhere, or did ODOT/PBOT just completely forget to consider bikes for their 33rd Ave. bridge detour??? I followed the auto detour today and ended up having to bike over a mile on Columbia Blvd/Hwy 30. No shoulder. No bike lane. Just misery as I took the lane with cars and trucks whizzing by at 50+mph. 😞

Further complicating matters is shit like this which, as a rather risk-averse person, is incredibly strong incentive to reduce the amount of attention I might receive while on a bike. :(

Inattentive drivers are dangerous enough, verbally aggressive ones are even worse, but literally being hunted because I choose to ride a bike? That shit is fucking terrifying.

Thinking about a post reply I saw on here the other day. Person writing the reply lives in a European country and mentioned that bike lanes are swept of leaves and debris *daily* this time of year. Meanwhile in "Platinum" bike city, Portland, Oregon: we're lucky if many if them get swept twice in the same season. And if the wind knocks a tree into the street? The city piles it neatly in the bike lane and puts a few token traffic cones out. The city that works, amiright?

Looking for build ideas!

I was perusing the "Sale" section on Xtracycle.com last Friday and noticed they were selling something rather unique. They had apparently dug up some "Megaracks" from their basement. There were only a handful available and they were selling them for DIRT cheap. For context, this was a prototype of what eventually became the Leap. (I snagged the attached photo from their website before they sold out and deleted the link.)

On a whim, I snagged two of these Megaracks to play with. While I already have a long tail cargo bike (Xtracycle Edgerunner), along with half a dozen other bikes, I certainly do love to tinker. I figured if I end up not liking them I can resell them (at cost) on Craigslist or donate to a bike Co-Op.

One Megarack will likely go onto a shorty recumbent project that I've been marinating on. The other however... I have some thoughts but I also kind of want some inspiration. Have you dreamed of building something weird/unique with an Xtracycle kit (or similar)? What contraption would you like to see? What would you build? I have an embarrassingly large parts hoard and easy access to more, so that's not an issue.
