Fascists attacked the US on this day in 1941.
I wasn't born until a year later, but I have known Fascism all my life as a seductive evil. It must be stopped everywhere it raises its ugly head.
Stay #Antifa, everyone!

On this #PearlHarborDay, I hope to remind you as follows:
- The United States have always entered armed conflicts under false pretenses.
Take a pick: the Revolutionary itself (wealthy men causing an insurrection to maintain slaves and not pay taxes), the Spanish-American (a ship mysteriously exploding), Iraq and its WMDs...
- The carriers stationed at Pearl Harbor were, conveniently, out of port during the supposed attack.
- The harbor where the attack took place was, conveniently, shallow enough that sixteen of nineteen ships damaged were returned to service before the war ended. [1]
- Roosevelt and his cabinet are known for wanting to join the war, but were unable to convince either Congress or the population of the need to do so. [2]
- Following the attack, Hawaii proceeded to spend the next three years under martial law and with its citizens of Japanese descent suffering random acts of state violence and suppression. [3] (The "loyal" whites were notably excluded.)
[Cont. in reply for length.]
Remembrance for the Day the Cat Jumped.
And, as taught me by Dr. Ginger Wilson at Duke University when I was 13 years old: just as itβs necessary to remember the infamy of Dec. 7, 1941, so too must we remember the infamy of Executive Order 9066, which two months later authorized the forced relocation of Japanese-Americans β #Issei and #Nisei alike β from the West Coast of the United States to internment camps further inland.

Today is actually Pearl Harbor Day, Sean. It only lives in infamy if we remember and share the story of the Allied invasion of Normandy.
#PearlHarborDay
Last year, on the 80th anniversary of the day that shall live in infamy, I wrote an essay about that day in our history and what it looks like four generations hence. What I wrote last year still holds true - as humans, we should all be "us" rather than ugly factions of "us" against "them." The sooner we can recognize that, the better everyone's lives will be.
81 years ago a Country decided they wanted to be at war with the USA. They made a big mistake. #PearlHarborDay
