“Pedantic” is my middle name!

Yes, my full name is Truth Pedantic Sandwich, but that’s a bit of a mouthful, so I stick to Truth Sandwich. People mostly call me Sandwich, when they call me anything at all.

Revanchism seems to be more broad, and is concerned with relitigating past losses that they refuse to accept as legitimate. In a sense, the 1/6 coup was revanchist.

Irredentism is about wanting to unite petty kingdoms. Putin certainly sees Ukraine as just another Russian-speaking territory that, by all rights, belongs under the umbrella of Moscow.

So both fit, but irredentism is more precise, if perhaps less likely to be understood.

Don't say HDRI images, as the I at the end is Image.
So say HDRI or HDR images.
Thank-you!

@garius Interesting thread, but .....

Since when did "coup" become a verb ??? 🤔

(Yes I know "couper" is a verb in French, but this thread appears to be in English)

That's not a great headline, personally.

I don't dispute the science but there are clearly different degrees of "less" meat eating, which will determine the equivalence to how many million cars taken off the road
i know, sorry!

My , ultra , nitpick today:

/ is a slash, or forward-slash if you must.

\ is a backslash.

And because I have a migraine:

() are parentheses. One of them alone is a parenthesis.

{} are braces. “Curly” is redundant, but also clear, so fine.

[] are brackets. Not square braces.

In the comics there are quite a few people who take up the mantle of The Flash, The Atom, The Green Lantern, etc. Many of them exist at the same time.

Should they introduce themselves as A Flash, An Atom, or A Green Lantern?

Why yes, my I just changed my blood pressure meds. Why do you ask?

I think Secret Invasion’s writers mean “Heads of Government” here and not “Heads of State.” Otherwise it’s really weird if the UK Prime Minister is attending a European crisis summit with an assortment of largely ceremonial Presidents, Kings, Queens, and Grand Dukes.

My irational pet peeve: Using “4D” to mean “something happens outside the screen”

1) That is still the third dimension
2) All 3D screens are already fourth dimensional, on account of them not being still images.

Hey:

When titling Reddit/forum posts, “How to [task]” means you are giving a tutorial on how to do something.

If you are asking a question, the title should be “How do I [task]?”

For absolutely no reason I just remembered:

When I got married, the marriage officer saying "...and bless the children you may or may not have"

So I was standing there in this solemn moment having to do my best not to blurt out "um sorry, bless the children I may not have? How does that work???"

It has always annoyed me that many systems are designed with a digital chip (e.g. microprocessor or microcontroller) that has a particular maximum clock frequency specification, and run it from a crystal specified at that exact frequency. Doing so ensures that there's about a 50% chance that the chip is being operated beyond its rated specifications.
