This is me putting together my ideal pedestal for doodles of light- Held on a plinths of plastic consumer storage totes and boxes filled with stuff!

Alas, these doodles are on display (minus my ideal plinths) and some other work I never posted here at Culture Lab LIC for the exhibition "Luminous: The Art of Neon" opening tonight at 6pm. The show will be open thru March 26th and I hear there might be a closing party.

The #pedestal was old, the man said as she pulled it out of the skip, and a hazard for someone so clumsy, but Thea didn't care. After a sand and a varnish, and some felt on the base so it didn't scratch the floor, it would make the perfect home for that big Boston fern.

I step up on the tree root #pedestal & face the semi-circle of fusty faeries. A gong sounds. The ornate door swings open &, dancing dung beetles, the faery queen comes in. Behind her is a scowling angel. I gulp. I think I may be in more trouble than I realised!

Veronica turned a page & shifted slightly in bed. Sophie, asleep next to her, let out a quiet sigh. Veronica reached down & brushed her hair back. She smiled recalling Sophie's desperate efforts to make up, but felt guilty for losing her temper. She put Sophie on such a #pedestal that when she made a mistake — even a tiny one — it made her really angry. She took a ringlet of Sophie's hair & tickled her nose with it. Sophie opened her eyes, looked up, & smiled to see Veronica happy.
