I wish folks who point to #Montreal for examples #Ottawa should follow would point to some of the many more reasonable comparisons. Ottawa is not likely to have a Mont Royal #pedestrianStreet. But we could have a rue a Wellington (in Verdun).

I'm sitting in a tiny local coffee shop that houses another little shop, looking out at our #pedestrianstreet — a rare #carfree space!

Yet all I can think of, in my little paradise in #Montreal, is the lightning-fast #gentrification that brought this borough where it is.

The fact that in another life, if I hadn't broken the cycle, I'd be the one getting #renovicted with nowhere to go. ... And in another decade, maybe I will be.
The fact that #goodurbanism is a privilege.

It's bittersweet.
