Today I learned that the maintainer of #Peek, the #GIFRecording tool, stopped working on it in January. It wasn't working in my computer for a while. https://github.com/phw/peek/issues/1191 This is a bit sad, but one has to be grateful for the time while it worked. Wonderful interface. Lots of my skech-a-day posts, tutorials and support sessions with students benefited from a #GIF made with it.

I've been using Blue Recorder on and off and decided to try #pypeek https://github.com/firatkiral/pypeek today, it looks promising.

I also have some PNG to GIF #Pillow scripts to use with #py5 https://github.com/villares/sketch-a-day/blob/main/admin_scripts/pngs_to_gif.py because it gives me more control than using the py5 export tool: https://py5coding.org/reference/py5tools_animated_gif.html
(I like to decide myself when to add frames, start, stop, skip)

I'm running #KDE Neon User edition, using a #wayland session(^1), and I'd like take a screen recording to demonstrate application startup times.

I've installed #blue-recorder, #kazam, and #peek, and all result in a recording that simply shows a black screen with my mouse cursor. Doesn't matter if I run as my normal user or root.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an app that might work or how to make one of the apps listed above work?

Interesting thing about a #decentralized social network, is that if you don't post during #peek viewing hours, your #post won't get the traction you might want because your #followers aren't #online. So, the idea of #boosting comes into play, but you don't want to just sit there and boost your own posts all the time either. So, it's quite the balancing act on when and how often to post and boost if you want #traction as a #creator.

I sold 6 copies of the #Peek #game already in 2023! Plus another few in Dec. I don’t know how or why but thanks! People buy it from all over, I’m amazed how many countries I’ve had to look up the address format for so I can ship it to them.

I'm using RecApp and BlueRecorder now but they don't work as well for my needs.

She doesn’t think I see her. Most of my #wildlife shots are taken with 100 - 400 lens and 1.5 extender so the subjects look much closer #nature #photography #peek-a-boo
