Why does manuscript submission in 2023 still feel like 1983??
I just submitted a ms to @ISMEmicrobes @springernature only to get a reply two days later that they insist that the figures will not be part of the text.
I don't know a single reviewer who prefers flipping pages back and forth while reading a ms.
All this stems from the time scientists would use a typewriter for the text and a mm paper for the figures. Why are we putting up with this?? 😠
A friend of mine was asked to #peer_review a paper for a journal and asked me what I found useful, having gone through some recently. I'm curious what others find useful, but I have 3 that I have learned are most useful to me: 1/
Small milestone but highly appreciated and massively satisfying!
Recieved recognition as #reviewer2 for a great article coming soon in Sexual Medicine Reviews.

#OpenScience: I had the opportunity to work as recommender for #PCI_ecology, the new initiative for free and fully transparent #peer_review in #ecology. I greatly appreciated the experience. #Science #publication is on the verge of a new era. #PeerCommunityIn
