As the #ImpactFactor increases, #PeerReview reports get longer, especially discussing materials and methods. However, there are fewer reviewers from Asia, Africa, and South America in high-impact journals vs Europe and North America: the association may be driven by English fluency.

Anna Severin et al. conclude: "Differences were modest, and the Journal Impact Factor is therefore a bad predictor of the quality of peer review of an individual manuscript."

Reflections:
- terminology you think is common currency IS NOT;
- what needs spelling out across several paragraphs for reviewer X doesn't even need mentioning for reviewer Y;
- why your research matters TOTALLY differs for each reviewer.

What to do:
- find a common feedback denominator;
- consult the criteria;
- hold your nose & submit!

I had 2 logins for 1 journal, kept on getting "your review is overdue!" notices. Journal fixed the login issue, but the review is .... gone.

A mediation analysis attributed about one-third of the lower success rate for proposals by women in a #scienceFunding competition in the social sciences to the indirect effect of #disciplines, topics, and methods. Interviews with panel members further elucidated that this effect is driven by their disciplinary evaluation logic. #PeerReview can reproduce the hierarchy of disciplines and, through it, negatively affect the outcomes for women. https://doi.org/10.1177/00380385231163071

I finished typing up and submitting an anonymous #PeerReview report for an academic journal. This was of a second revision and there were still problems with the #referencing. WTF? Why has referencing become so difficult for (typically young) scholars?

Funny in a split peer review how nobody ever says "that positive review must be the one that's on the money, let's just go with that"
