What is the alternative? Peer review may not be perfect, but without it more garbage will flood in.
Analogy is why FDA was created in the US.
Not all peer reviews are equal. The author seems to have an agenda blaming a system without an effective alternative.
The statement in the article is misguided - "Science should be free"
Peer review does not hinder science. You are free to science as you please. But not allowed to propagate misinformation in the name of science.

I mentioned in my #introduction post that I have been working on a few things for the last 6-7 months. The first thing is now out! The CEU Press is starting a #podcast series! I will talk to people about the various aspects of academic #publishing, from #bookproposal to #peerreviews to the marketing of books. In the first episode I sit down with Frances Pinter and Emily Poznanski to talk about the past, present and future of the CEU Press. Give it a listen! https://podcasts.ceu.edu/content/ceu-press-podcast-series #UP #UPress
