When Gen-X went to college, Pell Grants covered up to $6,000 a year, and a year of tuition, room, and board at an Ivy League University cost $16,000 a year.

Now, Pell Grants cover up to $7,395 a year, and Ivy Leagues cost $60,000 a year.

This is why student loan forgiveness matters. The available resources to help folks attend college have not kept up with costs.
