#TodaysWalk took me along the Penge Road which leads, in one direction, to #Penge. In the other direction, slightly more suprisingly, it leads to Goat House Bridge.

Sadly, Goat House Bridge has no house on it, nor any goats.

So here's a picture of the surviving length of the Croydon Canal, a slab of stagnant water that sits somewhere in Betts Park, taken from the deep end.

The lighting wasn't ideal for that, but the shallow end is fenced off and empty.

More Road works arrived today with three way temporary lights at the junction of Crystal Palace Park Road and Lawrie Park Road. 176 & 197 buses are finding it difficult to turn into LPR.

Hope they clear this by Friday or it will be chaos when combined with the South Facing Concerts entry & exit to the Park.

Looking to hire a bike? Just noticed the self-service Brompton hire station in Empire Square, Penge. That's the entrance to Iceland/Wilko/Peacocks. Is it new as I haven't noticed it before and I have one?

A much better solution for intermodel travel than the alternatives. Although it is the best folder it is a proper bike as capable as any for long or short distances.

The Telegraph reports on Cator Park:

The land – which is also a haven for wildlife including woodpeckers, owls, kingfishers, egrets, slow worms and stag beetles – is privately owned and was purchased by its current owners, registered to a firm based in Singapore, for £10,000 in 2013.

But it is also designated as Metropolitan Open Land by Bromley Council, giving it the same status as “green belt” land.

The #BBC & #ITN were today filming the site of the Cator Park Ecocide where 100 trees with a tree preservation order well felled illegally over the weekend. Hopefully it will be on the #London news tonight.

It wasn't a pretty site and the protesters who had tried to stop the felling had, by reports, been treated roughly. Reports are limited to avoid prejudicing likely legal proceedings.
