@daesan es una serie que lo tiene TODO (un gran concepto, una espectacular diseño de producción, buena banda sonora, efectos visuales calidad cine, actores vistosos…), y sin embargo falla en casi todos sus apartados importantes (personajes, argumento, ritmo, estructura, cero química entre los actores…). Quiere ser una #JuegoDeTronos feérica y se queda en versión sosa y aburrida de #PennyDreadful. Me quedan tres o cuatro episodios para acabarla y se me está haciendo bola, en serio. Anoche vi el episodio en que a Orlando Bloom le meten un monólogo a lo Gollum… 😐
Lo mejor, el diseño del bicho asesino. Una maravilla que deja al Demogorgon de #StrangerThings en paños menores.

Sweeney Todd, or the String of Pearls (1847), AKA The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, most famous of the 19th century penny dreadfuls, lurid crime and horror pot-boilers published in weekly instalments with cliff-hanger endings.

This is where popular fiction begins.

Wonderfully sensationalistic and gruesome, and delightfully breathless and overheated. Sweeney Todd is an epic villain.

I was surprised to discover that one of my favourite #authors, #WillChristopherBaer, in 2022 published a #graphicnovel adapted from the #novel of the same name, #KissMeJudas.

If you are into hard boiled #noir or twisted #thrillers with horror elements, I’d wholeheartedly recommend the entire #PhineasPoe trilogy. Baer’s writing is edgy, inventive, pacy, with just the right dose of nasty. And #PennyDreadful, the sequel to Kiss Me, is utterly unhinged, but in the best possible way.

Para el #TKZseries yo quiero mencionar la serie #PennyDreadful

Desde el primer momento me cautivaron los escenarios tenebrosos, situados en la Inglaterra victoriana. La actuación de Eva Green es de 10 y me gustó mucho también Timothy Dalton y su corte de barba.

Mezcla personajes de historias clásicas como Dorian Gray, el doctor Frankenstein, vampiros y hombres lobo. En ella impera el pesimismo y los personajes están muy bien desarrollados y contextualizados. Todos están abrumados por su pasado y sus experiencias, cada uno atormentado a su manera; toda la trama es oscura, melancólica, lúgubre...

Reconozco que es una serie que es mejor ver durante un estado de ánimo bueno porque puede hacerte regodearte en tu propia mierda si no tienes un buen día.

Para mí es una serie imprescindible y me marcó por lo original y lo bien hecha que la encontré.

Y añadiría un pequeño bonus. También oscura y ambientada en la misma época, protagonizada por el gran Tom Hardy y Ona Chaplin, y que desgraciadamente fue cancelada y solo hay una temporada: #Taboo
