No Regrets

When one's satisfied
It's hard to look back
And wish to change anything

My trauma
The things that hurt
The things that numbed
Happened

But now we're here
Us three
Under the oaks
Nestled in snow

You let me be me
Sharing all I feel
No need to justify
The space I take

I'm wiser now
And we have our family
So no regrets
Just acceptance

Thank you for your service
Helping with nervous urges
Pop! into the mouth
Baby lets go of all doubt

Like a wanderer at an oasis
A bird set free of its cage(s)
The sweet taste of a mango
Or finally dancing a tango

But the dentist says we are through
Or your tongue might become untrue
Not pressing enough on your palette
Thanks to this bad little habit

So we say, "Paci bye bye"
Even though some of us cry
Momma will bounce you instead
Dance you gently to bed
