You need to have LOTS of room on your VPS if you are selfhosting. My own Mastodon is 1 year old. At first, 1GB of RAM & a few 10Gs of space was needed. But with more connections & relays my RAM and space requirements shot up. It now requires 5.5GB of RAM. I switched to a new Minio instance 3 days ago and in THREE days it has 20GB stored in the new Minio bucket.
