The Destruction of Stocking Frames, etc. Act 1812, made it a capital offense.

Byron’s response was a scathing poem that is, sadly, still on point.

@ChrisMayLA6 The complication in this case is that the “investors” may not be the real villains anyway. Over 60% of the equity is owned by pension funds Eg USS and BT. The losses will therefore get “socialised” either way, while those who created the structure and no doubt creamed off rich fees in the process simply disappear back into the woodwork.
And both water and pensions industries are supposedly regulated.
