Sunday, October 15, 2023, 10am - 2pm in the Monterey County seat and its largest city, Salinas, enjoy four hours of 1.6 miles of car-free streets: the 10th Ciclovía Salinas, and the 1st since March 20, 2022.

SPEAK NOW: Why I speak up to people in power in front of a crowd

It is not about persuading people in power (ie decision makers) to change their minds or change what they have decided. It’s about:

1. Holding people in power accountable of their decisions

2. Hoping people from the crowd would find the courage to speak up as well (#peoplepower)

Facebook, ig, and twitter don’t want to be social media. They want to be media. They don’t want people to experience a natural feed of people they follow. Instead they serve a curated dish. They control what we see. They are clearly pulling back from the social aspect and becoming merely big media. It’s important to be very aware of this. Everyone’s addicted to scrolling and do they’ve got this massive power over what people see. #meta #socialcontrol #speech #peoplepower #twitter

"The #Equity-First #Transportation Funding Act (AB 1525, Bonta) is critical to rebalancing California’s transportation spending priorities, dedicating at least 60% of our transportation budget to the communities that need it most.

"And it’s in danger of dying this Friday, May 19th.

"The Assembly Appropriations Committee has the power to quietly kill bills that a few powerful politicians don’t like. If AB 1525 doesn’t move from this committee by May 19, it dies. Tell the Appropriations Committee to pass transportation funding for all. It just takes a minute to send an email, and your voice makes a difference."

@jace Some of our family members live in #Alberta, and we enjoy checking #mstdnCA regularly.

Yesterday our family in #Edmonton showed us (via video chat) their #multimodal trail. Dad or Mom are able to take the kids to their elementary #school via #bicycle, #scooter, #skate, or simply #walk—no need to drive. It makes for a fun 15-minute #commute between home and school, with just one intersection where they have to stop and look for cars.

The entire family loves it, including being closer to nature, watching changes of the seasons, getting exercise, and simply en - #joy - ing their commute!

Yay, for #urban planners knowing how vital it is to have #infrastructure allowing people to get about by #active #transportation.
