Oh I'm just interested in the #pepparkakor recipe, which I hope I can find.

I've never baked any but I do enjoy eating them and used to buy the Anna's biscuits when I could. Started eating these as a child, many years before IKEA shops in the UK. Yum!

Hey there, fellow Mastodonians! In December I did an informal #JoinIn where I explained how to make Swedish #pepparkakor. Would anyone be interested if I were to do another one explaining how to #cook #DryBeans from scratch, possibly with a ham bone thrown in?

IMO, the skill of cooking and spicing up dry beans can help you get through hard times. It's important to eat well when money is tight, and knowing how to cook from scratch certainly helps make that easier.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The recipe as given yields a whopping 8 DOZEN COOKIES. If you're not up to baking (or eating) that much #pepparkakor, divide the recipe ingredients in half. (Scramble up an egg and use half of it, or just toss in a whole egg anyway and live dangerously!) #JoinIn

#Pepparkakor ingredients:

1 cup (225g) butter, softened
1½ cups (300g) white sugar
1 large egg
1½ tablespoons orange zest, grated
2 tablespoons dark corn syrup (or golden syrup)
1 tablespoon water
3¼ cups (about 472g) white flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
½ teaspoon ground cloves

The recipe is based on American measurements, but I'll do my best to convert to metric as needed.
