is my thing. I am actively looking for work.

I am based in the UK and my focus is on using , edible crops & in ornamental settings, weaving wildlife habitat into the very fabric of the garden. Remote design a speciality.

Thank you šŸ™ 🌳

Loving this flower that is spreading round the garden. Rampion Bellflower (Campanula rampunculus) the plant that Rapunzel’s mother craved so badly that her husband stole it from the witches garden, and had to hand over the baby in return.
It’s an beautiful enough for and in the background is another nearly forgotten plant, Skirrets (Sium sissarum).

@KT
I have perennial kale (Daubenton’s and Daubenton’s panache) which I love and I’m just germinating perennial Portuguese kale (Couve tronchuda). I do like my kale…
I’ve heard of others cutting their ā€˜annual’ kale back to keep it going, but we rotate our annual plants around and haven’t found a good spot for leaving it to try the same.
Also heard that suttons bred the kale to flower so they could sell more seeds when they first set up seed selling (may not be true!)

Very chuffed to have swapped some perennial leeks for some perennial onions today.

Watching a garden show and learned a whole new thing:

Vegetable gardening with perennials instead of annuals. Plant once, harvest year after year.

Edible ornamental garden is my new favorite scheme!

Still harvesting from the garden, perennial kale, annual kale flower heads and cutting celery, to go with the wild garlic from yesterday's forage.

@MyWildlifeAllotment I had the same experience with some , Skirret was particularly underwhelming. Mashua did well but I just didn't like the taste of it. Turkish Rocket is one of my faves, very productive, the florets taste strangely meaty. I guess the lack of breeding & nicheness can mean low yields & how to prepare can be issues. Lots to experiment with!

More compost mulch in what is slowly becoming a polytunnel. There's a white grape, Chilean Guava, Yacon, Strawberry, Comfrey (!), Cape Gooseberry so far

Who could possibly resist nettle dumplings? Nettles do have a strong flavour, I can find the soup a bit overpowering. I think a big stodgy dumpling would be the perfect foil.

Thank you Alison at Backyard Larder for the recipe šŸ˜‹

@MyWildlifeAllotment thank you for link, looks amazing, will have a readā˜ŗļø Totally agree about trees, far more resilient. I experimented a little with , some perennial leek, kale, Turkish Rocket etc, combining with ground cover (mostly Ground Ivy & Rubus rolfei) but a bit neglected for past year. Keen to get the town Wildlife Allotments off the ground, hope to get funding on climate & nature angle.

@MyWildlifeAllotment just realised, I am trying to set up a Wildlife Allotment! Really, it’s a community with & , lots of habitat, & individual plots. But Wildlife Allotment is easier to explain! Do you have website? I remember your allotment on Gardener's World a couple of years ago šŸ™‚

Mashua (Tropaleum tuberosum) growing on the compost heap *in December*. Frost sensitive leaves, related to Nasturtium. Edible tubers but haven't figured out how to make them acceptably edible in the kitchen! Beautiful flowers and foliage.

A forest garden is a self-nourishing wildlife orchard underplanted with edible shrubs and perennial vegetables.
