#33Thirds starts with a link to #PerfectPop28.
For her 1996 album "A Woman and a Man", #BelindaCarlisle demoed a song called "Falling into you". The record company said it didn't work, and the song fell into someone else's hands.
#CélineDion picked up "Falling into you" like a sack of discarded potatoes. Made it the title track - and track 3 - of her 1996 album.

To narrow down the search, I only consider acts where I've bought at least one album - CD, cassette, downloads. Not always an album for *myself*, and not always nominating the album I've bought. One work per performer, by rule.
By choice, #33Thirds doesn't feature the acts from #PerfectPop28 this month ("Love in Disguise" from Debbie Gibson's "Electric Youth").
Also ruled out: songs from challenges in the other place last year (Liz Phair's "Why can't I", k d lang's "Helpless").
#PerfectPop28 concludes with my favourite #BelindaCarlisle track.
"Leave a light on", a song for those who are apart just at the moment. It's quintissential Nowels and Shipley, bangs out from the start to the finish.
Here's a live performance from 2022.

#PerfectPop28 meanders towards the end of #BelindaCarlisle's career.
2013's career retrospective was graced by new song "Sun".
"I don't have to record something unless I really love it. And for the last 15 years or so, truly great songs haven't been easy to find. It's age-appropriate, while still being modern and youthful in its spirit, and I particularly appreciated that part of it."

I promised a Eurovision winner during #PerfectPop28. As usual, #BelindaCarlisle delivers.
2007's album "Voila" was inspired by Belinda moving to France for some years. It's an album of chanson - and this Deutsche outlier.
In "Merci chérie", Belinda finds a sensuality and coquettishness I don't get from Udo Jürgens' original. https://youtu.be/y7wDwtKHaMQ

#PerfectPop28 continues our #BelindaCarlisle fortnight, with the last top 40 single of her career.
"California" was a love letter to Belinda's home state, Brian Wilson from The Beach Boys gave backing vocals in a symbolic passing of the torch.
Here's Belinda on the Lottery Show from 12 February 1997.

Short thread for Top of the Pops #TOTP from this week in 1988. Featuring two alternative performances, one very bad photomontage, and just one person from my #PerfectPop28 collection.
#PerfectPop28 moves into #BelindaCarlile's last hit album, "A Woman and a Man".
"In too deep" was the comeback single, lush vocals, harmonising with herself, and a video shot somewhere desirable.

#PerfectPop28 reaches 1993, and #BelindaCarlisle's "Real" album.
This album sees Belinda return to her alt-pop roots, and it's a record that could only be made in the giddy possibility of 1993. Grunge was still in its liquid state, strong women like Belly and The Breeders were pushing the boundaries. So exciting even mainstream pop felt invigorating.
The lead single was "Big scary animal".
