Having been on both sides of the table, I've thought a lot about this...
1) To what degree you should take them seriously or not depends a lot on your manager and company
Some managers place a lot of emphasis on them, but others treat it as a check the box...

@Mallulady HR in many sectors have been using #algorithms for #hiring, #layoffs, #PerformanceEvaluations for some time now. What has changed is that #employees should have far less expectation of human engagement in any of these actions. And potential employee data is not private - the "AI ification" of your personal data is what drives too many #BigTech companies who in turn manage action downstream. In addition #ageism is a huge factor in the management of employees. Just my 2 cents.

Signed my annual performance evaluation this morning. The only weakness noted by my manager was "tends to spread himself too thin," which I took as a very charitable way to describe my working style of "Ignores duties he doesn't enjoy until they are literally on fire while wandering around finding more interesting work that is not his actual job."
