After many years at companies that run 360 performance reviews, doing a sole self-assessment is tough. The feedback is all in one direction, and I'm unsure who benefits from the process.

Working on a #performancereview (my first-ever outside of undergrad!) for a #performance of "The Chinese Lady" (how I wish I could utilize italics in Mastodon) that I saw at centralsquaretheater.org over in Cambridge, MA. It's one of those shows that gets my academic and #dramaturg mind rolling and that ties into one of my undergrad #theatre #research topics: artistic liberties in the theatre and how productions can spread mistruth in the audience. How this show plays into it and defies it!

Romantic ballet would go on evolving, giving us contemporary ballet and its celebration of the uninhibited.

I learned to write a half decent performance review this semester, and this piece was one of the performances I had the pleasure of viewing, analyzing, and writing up. It’s two hours of dance.
