We're slowly working to replace these w/ native plants & fruit trees as time allows. Digging out forsythia isn't too bad w/ strong shovel. It has shallow soft roots, & crown can be levered out. Eye protection is a good idea.

So here's a bed on S edge that gets good summer sun. After a few years of building these beds up atop the former lawn (with cardboard & lots of mulch) they're almost ready for planting. We end up with some lovely soil and a heap of biomass.

I used to be terrified of #spiders before I moved to the #countryside . Now I just let them be, unless they happen to sit right above my bed or so. But then I move them to my indoor #garden in the lounge. This time of year, they do a great job of keeping the small flies population under control, and no other pests, such as spider mite, seem to establish when spiders are around. No #pesticides needed!

Let me introduce you to the start of something beautiful. We purchased 2.25A in the Tehachapi Mountains last year with lots of potential. Thus far we've installed solar, built a #compost station, #garden, #chicken coop, got ready for #goats. This winter: orchard, fedge + gray water capture. #permacultue #Selfsuffciency #organic

I'm looking to create a Mastodon account for a UK based environmental group. Mainly involved with #localfood #permacultue and #TransisitonTown.

I'm still trying to workout many aspects of Mastodon but know the choice of instance is important. Especially when it comes to linking up with like minded communities.

Anyone know an instance that is already popular with UK sustainability and environmental group or does anyone have plans to create one with this aim?
