Permaculture practitioners as far distant as Moldova π²π© and Australia π¦πΊ have opened their projects to the public to celebrate #InternationalPermacultureDay (IPD) 2023.
IPD was first launched in Australia where it started as a national event. It spread to other countries and went international. This year sees the Republican Centre Gutta-Club in Moldova π²π©, bordering Ukraine and Romania by the Black Sea, participate for the first time. Organisations in Poland π΅π±, Turkey πΉπ· as well as the USA πΊπΈ are participating.
Like most of the world, IPD went into a lull during the pandemic and, like foliage on a deciduous tree as winter ends, is now emerging to bloom again. Originally planned for the first Sunday in May, events moved to any date in May to invite greater participation.
#PERMAFUND - supporting permaculture projects
Some organisers in Australia collect donations at their events for #PermacultureAustraliaβs small grants program, Permafund, so it can continue to enact #permacultureethics of sharing what is spare to enable others to meet their needs.
IPD celebrates #permaculture as a model of mutual assistance for personal and community resilient living in troubled times.
IPD is website is coordinated by volunteers on the southeast coast of lutruwita-Tasmania.
