@malorypotato *dies laughing* I personally recommend date of publication when it comes to the adventures of the #threads -burning Dragonriders of #Pern, if only because the first book in chronological order is Dragonsdawn (about the first human settlers coming to Pern from space, being met by the devastating scourge of the Threads, meeting the dragons' precursor species etc.) and it is... not very good. @JessMahler may have other recommendations!

Starting a reread of Anne Mccaffrey's Tower and Hive series, and thinking of rolling into the Pern Series after that.

Pern in particular should keep me out of trouble for a while, although the T&H series is no lightweight.

I love the #Pern books by Anne McCaffrey. They're scifi/fantasy about a colony on the world of Pern.

Mild spoilers follow: Every 200 years the Red Star gets too close, and this organism they call Thread falls onto Pern. Thread kills anything organic it touches. The colonists have fallen back into a feudal society, and some are Dragonriders who ride Dragons to fight the thread before it reaches the ground.

I like the Harper Hall trilogy better than the Dragonriders trilogy, but both are top notch. When you finish those there are 20+ more books set on Pern to read.

I just finished Dragonsdawn, Bk 9 of The Dragonriders of Pern. Such an amazing book - so much packed into it. This was an incredible read, and even though it was a re-read for me, I still was completely engrossed. So emotional, so powerful. Five stars!!! #DragonridersOfPern #Pern #fantasyBooks #fantasy

I have a question for #readers - what do you think about authors to hand off a series to their son/daughter? Anne McCaffrey did it with the #Pern books, and now I see that Rhys Bowen is collaborating with her daughter on a new release. I found the McCaffrey transitioning jarring, and I felt as if I could see the passages written by her son instead of her.
