@tails @torproject Worse of all: The way I want to deploy is by shoving the latest on a that runs [ventoy.net/en/index.html] and puts the on a seperate Partition on the .

This is done so that updating Tails is fast and painless and doesn't exert higher levels of wear and tear on flash memory as well as allow for flexible choice of media sizes.

Worse: refuses to mount from a secondary Drive instead.

@tails For example, I do want to preconfigure some basics like @torproject and settings like "use Port 890 & 443 only" which allows me to do, but doesn't.

Or at least they don't allow me to just change a config file on the to do so.

Worse: I can't even do a single via without having a connection up and running, which is really bricking stuff.

@dexternemrod personally, I think that's a bug because @tails should allow seperating the and the actual boot media as one may use the same boot media but different persistent storages - ranging from a convenient multi-user use-case to ease of updating as well as , which is crucial considering the target demography of Tails:

@tails shouldn't care where and how I boot the !

It should also not give a damn where the is located.

I'm currently evaluating it for a setup with some as a -concious Client where people can either boot their flashdrive OR have the preinstalled just run as the main OS and have the option to just setup on their own drive or mount their Persistent Storage.

This isn't too much to ask for, or is it?

One thing that kinda pisses me off about @tails is that it's - which is just a fancy name for encryption - is absurdly restrictive and the doesn't even want to work.

Like yes there's a reason I'm booting the via [ ventoy.net/en/index.html ] and yes I want to use the vacantly kept 8GiB at the end of the flashdrive to be useable as for persistent storage and no, I need that drive to be as is since it's a drive designed to be easily updated.
