Of course such a short overview can't cover all the complexity.
Even simpler:
- spend less than you earn
- save an emergency fund
- save for the long term sensibly (compounding is your friend), well balanced portfolio with low fees, take advantage of retirement savings (IRA in the USA...)
- avoid debt that doesn't produce for you (perhaps a home loan or education loan will...)
