The fire seems to be from a faulty dishwasher they reported to their apartment multiple times as being broken but was never fixed.

Some photos from today. Very very few things were salvagable. We were able to save some of our string instruments, patio chairs, and a handful of other small hard items like metal jewelry and crystals.

I want to thank everyone who has donated and reached out to us so far. We’ve been nonstop busy with phone calls, insurance, and paperwork since this happened, so it’s been hard for us to communicate as much as we want to with everyone. The outpouring of support has been incredible, but anything we can get helps. We’re still at the beginning of rebuilding our lives and the mountains of paperwork and phone calls that go into it, once I have a better handle on other ways we could use support, I’ll post and/or reach out. I also intend to hold an in memorium post for at least Leaf, and may let Jordan and Gus to get to say some words about Paul and Poppy first, respectively.

We can't even mourn the death of Max, our last living dwarf hamster.

We lost her a few days ago.

It rained and softened the ground just enough so our friend could dig a tiny grave, and we buried her near Maneet and Merida.

I hope they're all happy and safe wherever they are, they brought us so much joy in their lifetimes 💗

Trying to give Fianna #rabbit lots of attention without pissing her off. Easier said than done.

She's missing Fangh. As am I. A lot.

We have managed to take her vest off & and hopefully, she won't create a wound on her shoulder again. Especially as Fangh isn't here to help it along.

She's also going on a weight loss journey. It was difficult to control without Fangh going without food. But now we can control it more carefully & hopefully get her more active. She's like me, prefers to eat & sleep & resembles a large potato.

I'm feeling completely heartbroken & like my chest is going to implode.

I had to say goodbye to my beautiful, 9yr old, daft fluff ball, Fangh bun today. The house feels wrong without him.

He'd been poorly over the last few weeks & deteriorated significantly over the weekend. We had to make the hard but right decision to let him go & put him to sleep. My baby boy has gone & I can't stop crying.

Cooper has had a really good day & I’m very grateful. He’s only had a bit of trouble after eating, & settled very easily afterwards.

His human mama has been stressed to the eyeballs after a busy tiring day yesterday, & needs to dial down her stress so we can properly enjoy whatever good times we have left.

No pics today. When he hasn’t been eating (& my gosh he has eaten so much today 🫢) he has been asleep.

We ended up euthanizing our sweet cat Emma last night. She had malignant tumors in both rows of her breasts and we couldn't afford all of the related surgeries that would be necessary to give her a chance to be cancer-free so we went forward with an at-home euthanasia. The veterinarian who performed it was so kind and respectful and as heartbreaking and devastating as losing her is for us, we got to hold her the entire time and make her feel completely safe while she passed away.

She was a rescue cat that my husband brought home. He had to leave for a few months right after that so for a whole summer it was just me and her in our apartment and we did everything together. She was always so happy to lay on my chest and I felt like we had a special bond.

I'll miss her so much but I know we saved her so much suffering in the near future.

Our oldest cat who we think is about 14/15 years old has large tumors in both sets of her mammary glands. After a set of financial situations the past year or so, we had to decide not to have them removed along with her glands & part of her connected tissue since the cost was too high. Right now she's not verbalizing any pain though she visibly can't get comfortable on her sides at all but is eating, drinking, and using the litter box.

We took her two weeks ago to the vet & found this out and they confirmed that with an x-ray and give her an antibiotic.

I'm going in about an hour to follow-up with them and let them know we aren't electing for surgery so I don't know what will happen but kind just want to put this somewhere.

She is kind of the only person I hung out with for about six months and in a weird way we have the same anxieties and basic personality so we're very bonded. #death #petdeath #cancer (tagging to help filters as much as possible)
