@Vivaldi Blue beanie day reminds me of a different "net" altogether.

Scotland's most north-eastern town on mainland UK, Peterhead is known locally as the Blue toon (town) after the blue moggans (stockings) that many of the fishermen wore.

The term "blue mogganer" is synonymous with "a resident of Peterhead". I wonder what term is given to those who wear a blue beanie?
