I‘m currently reading “#Blindsight” by #PeterWatts. B. is a medical condition where “people who are cortically blind to respond to visual stimuli that they do not consciously see” - which perfectly and smartly refers to the plot.

The German word we have for this condition is “Blindsehen” yet the German title of the German translation of the book is titled “#Blindflug” which translates to “#Blindflight” in English, which may sound similar, but is pointless😕

Why do these stupid things happen?

@dcarchibald Definitively SciFi, sometimes Fantasy. I loved #TheExpanse books and am a big fan of #PeterWatts #RifterTrilogy and some of his other writings. #70s #SF has also a lot to offer, like the #LarryNiven classics and #Dune etc. There where so many new Ideas. #CyberPunk stuff is also often on my reading list.
But I also love reading authors like #HarukiMurakami or #BarbaraEdelbauer where things are more vague and throw you off like that.

Peter Watts can throw around scientific details or quantities in his stories which would be natural for his characters, but are conversions an average reader would never have had to make.

It just dawned on me Wolfram Alpha understands these, can help you subtitle Watts the way his _Blindsight_ characters subtitle each other's lingo.

We live in an age of informational plenty.
