Here’s my lil bestie Lulu on her #GotchaDay #PetGotchaDay back in June 2021. She’s still a very tiny Shih Tzu (6 lbs) but I can’t believe she weighed less than a pound when we brought her home!

this is Puck on her #PetGotchaDay. when I went into the shelter to find her, having seen her on their website, she was curled up in one of the metal cages. I leaned down to see her and she wearily opened her eyes and began weakly purring at me, as if to say “I know you won’t pick me, but I could be a good cat.” of course we picked her. #CatsOfMastodon #Cats #ShelterCats

Meet Pepper on her Gotcha day Christmas 6 years ago, she came to us as sickly, scrawny & fearful of men, would have a panic attack & very scary fit if a man came near her, inc my hubby & sons.

Now she is full of life, clear eyes, thick coat, a happy & brave girl.

Tho' she does have the occasional PTSD flashback with some individuals she doesn't take to.

Poor Melody didn't get a photo on gotcha day because the neighbor's tree decided to fall into our property that day! But a couple of weeks later, I got a photo when she decided the kitchen counter was a great place to lie around and watch us.

@PNWJen Here's Orion's #PetGotchaDay, in October 2011. He didn't have a shelter name, but after he untied my shoe, the staffer let it slip that his nickname was "Stinker."

I could use some cheering up. I propose a “Pet Gotcha Day” celebration. Post a photo of your pet(s) on the day you brought them home. Whatever species, whatever age, however long ago it was, however you got them, let’s see them!

Mine are foster fails. They were 6 weeks old when they came to live with me. Charlie is in the front, giving me a dirty look. Her sister, Paulette, is behind her, confused and I don’t blame her.
