On vacation (back home) in #EastFrisia
The #medieval church of #Petkum (now an outskirt of Emden) holds quiet a collection of medieval and early modern tomb slabs. Here, I post two examples from the late 15th: One of them shows a pretty cool depiction of a guy in a gothic plate armor with (german) sallet and greatsword

Visited the church of #Petkum (13th century, but with many later additions which contribute to the interesting piecemeal appearance of the building) at the eastern banks of the river Ems. Within the church, a beautiful 13th century baptistery can be found.

Took the small ferry from #Petkum to #Ditzum, one of my father‘s (🖤) favorite spots.
Visited Ditzum‘s #medieval (13th century) church with its light house-shaped bell tower (mid 19th century).
Mental note: One day, I will run an #alasfortheawfulsea Sea adventure set in East Frisia during the time of the Napoleonic Wars. I have absorbed so much folklore and local history …. It has to be done 😅 #pbta
