It's rare for a rat to have such an attention span, but in Croghan's defense, it *is* Rock & Rye.

Croghan has the Rock & Rye box, as is the Big Man's right and due. He will not surrender it lightly.

Doolan is actually bigger than Croghan, but believes that being Big Man would be work and he doesn't want to bother.

Which leads to interesting compromises, like Croghan permitting Doolan to store his tail in the box. Because Doolan could take the throne, if he wanted. He doesn't want. But Doolan needs to know that Croghan knows.

Politics, rat or thumb-beast, are weird.
