This one is for the techie people out there into encryption. I used PGP for about 2 weeks with somebody and then realised that literally no one else in my circles uses it or even knows what it is. Which #email #client do you recommend for #MacOS?

Apple's Mail.app, for example, lacks support for threads. Required features are email threads, #PGP, a decent search, multiple mail accounts and identities. A big plus would be the ability to send #mail from addresses for which no identity has been created.
A free, open source application would be preferred. Paying a reasonable price would be ok. Subscription is a not an option, nor is #Thunderbird.

Earlier today I came across this archived message from a #PGP Basics group. It's from 2008. At least since then, my public key has been available on keyservers, and its ID is included below every #email I send. Even so, after 15 years, I'm still waiting for the first encrypted message or file from any person. The feeling is that everyone disdains #privacy, including us in IT, who have the tools and are supposed to be more aware of the issue. How will we change this culture? #OpenPGP #encryption

Dostałem maila zaszyfrowanego #PGP od obcej osoby. Mam tu mój klucz, więc go przeczytałem. Póki co, żaden problem.

Teraz chciałbym odpisać. Wysyłam odpowiedź i Evolution narzeka, że klucz nie jest oznaczony jako zaufany (rzecz jasna), więc nie może go wysłać. Wygląda na to, że nie ma żadnego oczywistego sposobu na obejście wymogu zaufania.

Wygląda na to, że oczekuje się ode mnie, że zrobię jedno z następujących:

1. włożę sporo wysiłku po to, żeby zbudować sieć zaufania do obcej osoby po to, żeby odpisać na jednego maila

2. włożę sporo wysiłku, żeby tymczasowo podpisać klucz tej osoby, a potem ten podpis unieważnić

3. wyślę niezaszyfrowaną wiadomość (co będzie zniewagą dla adresata)

Wzdych.

Warum muss digitales immer so kompliziert sein?

Ich habe eine "keyring.asc" in der mein privater #PGP Schlüssel steckt und ich auch das Passwort habe. Allerdings verbirgt sich zusätzlich ein uralter #posteo Schlüssel darin, zu dem ich kein Passwort mehr habe. Nun komme ich an keinen heran, weil sich der Inhalt nicht trennen lässt. Ich könnt' 🤮

Ich durchsuche gerade das Internet, wie ich mit #pgp komplette Ordner/Verzeichnisse verschlüsseln kann. Gerne Konsole/Terminal, aber trotzdem möglichst einfaches Handling. Zu E-Mail findet sich massenhaft, zu einzelnen Dateien auch noch einiges. Klar funktioniert das mit Ordnern ähnlich. Ich möchte aber nicht nur mit den #Linux PCs auf die im Internet abgelegten Daten zugreifen, sondern auch mit den #Android Smartphones (mit OpenKeychain).

Kennt jemand Quellen?
