We continue to press our employer extremely hard & have pursued ongoing individual consultations with the Unite members affected.
However, UCU has not moved on the substantive issue of the 40% reduction in full-time hours for the new post.

Our employer has now been sent official notification by #UniteTheUnion of our intention to ballot for industrial action over cuts to the #PGRsAsStaff Campaign post.
Management refuses to maintain as 1 FTE a new position being offered to the staff affected.

We're now 25 working days from the first of our #PGRsAsStaff members losing their job.
After the lack of serious engagement from our employer since we raised the FTC redundancies in April our only option has been to escalate under our dispute procedure.
This means involving elected UCU representatives in a meeting to discuss the #PGRsAsStaff redundancies.
In the meantime, following our member consultation, we are progressing plans to hold a statutory ballot.
Our campaign to save the #PGRsAsStaff jobs continues. We will now contact
Unite head office over running a statutory ballot but remain hopeful that it's not necessary.

Regrettably the redundancy notices issued to our two members who lead UCU's #PGRsAsStaff campaign leads have not, as of this evening, been withdrawn. We were left with no option but to open our consultative ballot on taking action. We urge members to vote yes.
Redundancy notices have been served on two fixed-term #PGRsAsStaff Unite members. Their project was endorsed, extended & expanded at #ucucongress23 but the employer has refused to withdraw the redundancy notices despite repeated requests. 1/2

as Graduate Teaching Assistants, at UoB, our staff accounts get deactivated 6 months after we finish a job. as I sit here logging yet another IT call to resolve the unsuccessful reactivation of my staff account for the 10th(!) GTA job I've had during my PhD, I'm thinking of the 100s of research hours I wouldn't have had wasted on things like this if #PGRsAsStaff was the default
