New #pharmacometrics question: Do you scrupulously reserve the term 'clearance' for THE clearance, "CL" (volume of plasma cleared per unit time)? Or do you ever use the word more generically to refer to a process or phenomenon, as in the phrase "receptor-mediated clearance"? @justinwilkins @IDPharmacometrx @pascalschulthess @Sjtpharm @francois_mercier
Regarding a 2-compartment model of mine (subcutaneous depot, plasma) a few clin pharm people are offering some odd complaints that a subQ depot isn't actually 'a compartment' "by convention". Is this view actually a thing? Is there some history behind it anyone could illuminate? Or is it just BS? #pharmacometrics @justinwilkins @francois_mercier @IDPharmacometrx @Sjtpharm
#ChatGPT applications in #Pharmacometrics from Peter Bloomingdale. Are pharmacometrician jobs in danger from #AI?
TL;DR LOL no. But a fun read.
Our colleagues at LAP&P are hosting a target-mediated drug disposition #TMDD course using #nlmixr2 at #PAGE2023 in A Coruña, Spain!
This is your chance to see nlmixr2 put through its paces in real-world #pharmacometrics by a world-class consulting team.

@AbuMirchi @damiacer Perhaps they’d like to fund development of an open source #NLME #Pharmacometrics model development tool
Very nice piece of work by Jim Rogers and colleagues. Essential reading for any pharmacometrician. #Pharmacometrics #CausalInference

Well, it's nice to know AI has limitations. 😃
(This code is largely nonsense.)

Beautiful introduction to key concepts of causal inference in #pharmacometrics https://ascpt.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/psp4.12894
Join our esteemed speakers Christian Bartels and Oliver Sander as they help pharmacometricians understand two important statistical concepts: estimands and causal inference. Register at http://bit.ly/3UGBAeZ.

@tnicholsmd I’ve decided to put a toe in the water. Still not sure … and ultimately I’m sure I won’t keep more than one active.
But glad to be here.

Hi, I'm Sam! I'm a pharmacometrician based in Minnesota, USA. My PhD is in Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, where I'm also currently on adjunct faculty.
My grad research as well as much of my current work focuses on #neuro disorders.
Currently I'm working primarily in NONMEM and #rstats, but I'm interested in exploring how novel approaches can be applied to #pharmacometrics, in particular AI/ML.

@Peter_S_Stewart Really nice blog. Congrats! #Stan code can easily be re-used in #pharmacometrics.
@justinwilkins yup pharmacometrics fosstodon here! #pharmacometrics is generally on Linkedin for some reason. Something about the field likes suits moreso than plain black t-shirts.

Hi together, working in #pharmacometrics - here for some of my hobbies: #statistics and #causalinference

@justinwilkins @FlyingGardener @francois_mercier @MikeKSmith @Tensfeldt Hi Justin and all. Great intro to #pharmacometrics
This is a nice manuscript (not my own) about stability of clinical prediction models https://arxiv.org/abs/2211.01061 ...
It reminds me of another nice #pharmacometrics paper I had the chance to review: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/19466315.2020.1828159
(It's a bit sad that Riley and Collins do not cite the early work by Cavenaugh ... silos, silos, always silos).
Finally, some pharmacometricians are here:

If I've missed someone or something - and I'm sure I have - shout out! #Pharmacometrics is, to put it mildly, complicated, and I've tried to provide a (very) high-level view of what we do. There will be gaps.
I'm on fosstodon.org because I do a lot of #rstats development, most notably as a member of the #nlmixr2 development team. nlmixr2 is a set of packages - let's call it the #mixrverse - for R that provides an #OpenSource alternative for nonlinear mixed-effects (#NLME) model development, which are the core of most #Pharmacometrics workflows (amongst others).
