Whether it's , or the amount white people will bend over backwards to forgive their favourite racists is extraordinary.

The text from the latest book. It was my response to a Philip Larkin poem called “ why did I dream of you last night”.

This was part of work I exhibited in Bristol UK as part of The Long Exposure collective.

'They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And call you Thor and Maverick too.'

Still, I liked the idea of calling a newborn Chucky - though then you should give the baby a second & third name too, like Ulysses & Patroclus; as In 'Chucky U.P.' Smith/Jones/Whatever.

An Arundel Tomb

'Side by side, their faces blurred,
The earl and countess lie in stone,
Their proper habits vaguely shown
As jointed armour, stiffened pleat,
And that faint hint of the absurd—
The little dogs under their feet.'

The 'hint of the absurd' was in Larkin's head, however. On the actual , in , the Earl's feet are clearly resting on a lion.
Larkin may have been ambiguous about love but it seems he was emphasising fidelity.

Some of the ideas behind my contribution to The Long Exposure collective’s exhibition opening this week.

"So Many Things I Had Thought Forgotten" at Four Corners Gallery, London E2 0QN, 15-26 Nov, 11am-6pm, Tues-Sat.

A photographic exhibition featuring 11 artists and lens-based practitioners, each inspired by four lines from the poem “Why Did I Dream Of You Last Night” by the poet and novelist Philip Larkin.
