When you do not understand or see the source of violence, you tend to over-sanction its application.
This can have undesired side effects, for example like victims not defending themselves and people watching but not interfering into a public act of violence towards a victim.

Irish revolutionary #PadraigPearse was born on Great Brunswick Street (now named Pearse Street) #OTD in 1879.
