Das Vogelnest macht mich fertig.

So herzig es ist, ich kann für die seelische Gelassenheit ein Vogelnest beim Hauseingang absolut nicht empfehlen!

Seit sie geschlüpft sind, muss ich sie jedes Mal zählen. Vier sollten es sein. Wir können das Nest aber nur schräg von unten sehen. Meistens sind also nicht alle zu sehen. Was das Zeit kostet, am Fenster zu stehen und Küken zu zählen!

Die Küken waren am Anfang kaum mehr als ein Schnabel mit Flaum dahinter. Inzwischen (eineinhalb, nicht ganz zwei Wochen später) sind sie fast so groß wie ihre Eltern. Da sind Köpfe und Körper hinter den Schnäbeln, die Augen sind offen, und die Flügel haben Federn.

Ich seh heute bis jetzt nur drei. Es kann doch nicht sein, dass eines schon irgendwo unten zwischen den Büschen sitzt? Gerade heute, wo's so nass ist?

The babies have hatched! 🥰 🪺

The nest is too high up for us to look inside. We will have to find a way to take a peek somehow.

For two weeks we watched Ms Birdy sit on the nest. She occasionally left for a few minutes, leaving us terribly worried that she might not come back. When it was hot, she had her beak open like a panting dog. We set up a second bird bath closer to the nest, just in case it might help.

Yesterday suddenly a Mr Birdy made an appearance at the nest. And Ms Birdy was nervous and kept standing up and looking down.

Today they are both flying to the nest with things in their mouths. They stand on the edge and put the things into the middle of the nest. Occasionally she sits in the nest like before.

We are totally thrilled and happy and proud and delighted.

It's in a little alcove next to the front door. We thought they would realize and move, but apparently they don't mind us coming and going. 🤷

Un mascle de Cotxa fumada (Phoenicurus ochruros) espera pacientment per caçar algun insecte que se li posi al seu abast... si el pit-roig (Erithacus rubecula) que l'observa a certa distància no el fa fora abans.
