the marsh marigolds were out on the riverbed today. this part of the river is usually underwater, so these plants must have adaptations that allow them to survive flooded conditions.

a more understated sight...these four sugar maples, with roots exposed by the current. right now we're in the middle of a dry spell, so much of the riverbed is bare right now. it floods dramatically in wetter seasons.
