Scientists achieve sound superposition like electrons and photons in quantum physics. Phonons can exist in two states simultaneously, advancing quantum computing. Manipulating sound waves at the quantum level improves information processing and communication. This breakthrough explores quantum effects in sound, enhancing technology development and our understanding of quantum mechanics. Source: go.digitalengineer.io/BK 🌐

Cool.

"You can’t divide the indivisible, unless you use quantum mechanics. Physicists have now turned to quantum effects to split phonons, the smallest bits of sound, researchers report in the June 9 Science."

How Does a New Quantum Computer Sound? Researchers Split Phonons to Find Out thequantuminsider.com/?p=23557 Insider Brief A team of scientists used a device called an acoustic beamsplitter to “split” phonons to demonstrate their quantum properties. The researchers say this is the first step toward a completely new quant

Well, I can't decide on the best stories of 2022, but I can point to the result that I most wish I had thought of doing, but somebody else got to it first. It's this one, published back in March:
rdcu.be/c2w3X
This describes terahertz measurements on polycrystalline samples of various different amino acids. The data indicate the presence of terahertz in some cases. Very difficult experiments, but very impressive results!
