I have contacted #Photobucket and asked for a copy of my old photos under UK #GDPR, which they refused to provide despite being required to do so. This is a simple breach of the law.

And guess what happens when you click on “Privacy Policy”…

So apparently #photobucket is still around, and they are removing free accounts.

I legitimately thought this was just the oddest choice of "your $ImportantAccount has been locked!" phishing scams until I looked it up on their site.

#Photobucket deactivated my free account without warning. Mind you I hadn’t used it in years, though I did download what few pics I had a few months ago. They said they dropped the free account. That’s their right, but it sure would’ve been nice if they’d given me a warning and time to download. Even if I hadn’t downloaded, I still had all those images. I did get emails my account was marked inactive but nothing about the free level going away. Jerks.

Ah, a relevant example that won't dox me is #imgur deciding to delete all content that was posted without an account. We haven't seen a total loss of content like this since #photobucket. Just so much information gone from the internet forever.

So, the bird site intentionally cut off third-party clients? I'm not surprised at all, and it has (almost) nothing to do with #Elon

#Twitter has a long history of killing off third-party services. Remember photo repositories like #Photobucket , url shorteners, heck, even #Periscope ?

Luckily, almost none of these shenanigans will happen in the #Fediverse
