So, I want to get back into (proper) photography (you know, with a real camera), but I’m too cheap to pay for Lightroom. I’m considering using Apple Photos (but store the photos in a separate local library), for editing, management etc. Those that I like, I’ll share online ( @pixelfed ) and put into my primary iCloud library. Anyone done something similar, have any warnings/suggestions? #applephotos #lightroom #adobelightroom #photography #photomanagement #photolibraries

We do now distinctly propose the creation of a comprehensive and systematic stereographic library, where all men can find the special forms they particularly desire to see as artists, or as scholars, or as mechanics, or in any other capacity. Already a workman has been travelling about the country with stereo- graphic views of furniture, showing his employer's patterns in this way, and taking orders for them. This is a mere hint of what is coming before long.
Here goes, my first attempt at #introduction: I'm professor of #visualculture at #NTNU, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, where I head up the fledgling research group Media, Data, Museums. As a photo historian with a background in professional picture research, I study the labour, systems, technologies, and #infrastructures that underpin visual culture from the early 1800s to the present. More of a media antiquarian than a media archaeologist. I'm the author of Picture Research: The Work of Intermediation from Pre-Photography to Post-Digitization – forthcoming from MIT Press in June 2023. In real life I'm quite loud; on social media I'm usually quiet.
