I’m considering using Apple Photos (but store the photos in a separate local library), for editing, management etc. Those that I like, I’ll share online ( @pixelfed ) and put into my primary iCloud library. Transferring my Lightroom library and photos to a pair of 5 TB drives set up as a RAID 1 using the macOS built-in Disk Utility. I didn't see a way to encrypt the drives, but that should be fine for my photos.
