@baskin good, but too complicated, imho. It would greatly help if there was a 'novice view' by default without all those tools and menus. I also think it uses a different logic in many simple functionalities (e.g. how you sort photos) that adds an extra layer of complication.
Having said that, though, I find it way more reliable than Shotwell.

Every time I double click a photo to open it, Shotwell crashes (Ubuntu 22.04). Anyone else facing the same issue? Any suggestions for alternative Linux photo managers? (only the ones you have already used, please!)

digiKam has a richer set of features. I'm happy with its performance on my collection of 30,000+ images. There was a bit of a learning curve, but there always is for more sophisticated software.
