Just opened (the fairly recent) Photomator for Mac next to Capture One 21 on my iMac.Wow. Such a difference!

I’ve had Photomator on my iPad/iPhone for a few years now but the desktop version for editing blew C21 away. Faster and more intuitive. Much cheaper too. The only drawback for the desktop is that you can’t access files outside of Apple Photos yet. Apparently it’s coming soon though.

Only a fool would dare step out from the shade into the heat of #Nagoya today.

I can hear the first cicadas of the year so instead of going anywhere, I've settled myself down in the park, in the shade beside a flower bed staying here until my daughter's pre-school finishes, photographing whatever comes my way.

Is this how old age begins?

Photomator on iPad tip: Photomator supports a couple options for what the Pencil does as soon as you touch it to the screen, regardless of what else you’re doing — most notably the Repair tool.

In the middle of adjusting selective colours and see something you want removed from the image? No need to switch to Repair tool mode, just grab the Pencil, scribble on the photo, and done. Love it.👍

Really tempted to pay for the £70 lifetime option of #Photomator as it’s such a deal… but it’s still £70!

Even when I know it’s great value, I’ve just been conditioned to pay next to nothing.

Photomator/Pixelmator’s Repair tool is also a killer feature that I like having under-the-same-roof when editing.

The last couple things that I still prefer in Lightroom are Dehaze and the fine sharpening and noise reduction controls. I find the Denoise function in Photomator a bit on the aggressive side.

I’m loving using Photomator on iOS/iPadOS to edit photos directly from my photo library. The newly added brush masking is exactly what I needed to start getting out of the Abode umbrella. The masking also feels SO much faster compared to Lightroom! Omg.

The latest (free without a subscription!) updates to Pixelmator Photo (now named Photomator) are game changers. Wonderful stuff. Absolutely no need to upgrade Capture One ever again and switching everything over to an iPad is one step closer.
