From Aug 25 to 27, Noah Al-Shamery was at the young chemists meet-up in Wuppertal as a yPC representative to network and to raise awareness for the German Bunsen Society across Germany. With speakers from Bayer, Shimadzu, and the OPCW, Wuppertal University was a great place for making new long-lasting connections between young professionals in their chemistry careers. #jcf #chemistry #PhysicalChemistry

On p.275 he tabulates temperature increases (by latitude) if CO2 decreases, or increases by 1.5x

He was the 1st Swede to win the #NobelPrize and later went on to chair the Nobel Committee

TIL that Wilhelm Schlenk, who invented a method to work on oxygen and water sensitive molecules (the Schlenk technique), was actually a professor at @unijena! Also, he worked with Johanna Holtz on Li organic compounds such as LiMe. i wonder if she was the first female PhD in #PhysicalChemistry in Jena?

On January 25, 1917, Belgian physical chemist and Nobel Laureate Ilya Prigogine was born. He is noted for his work on dissipative structures, complex systems, and irreversibility. The main theme of Prigogine‘s work was the search for a better understanding of the role of time in the physical sciences and in biology.

In this case, we got Pastis (also works with Ouzo and Absinthe). A clear, slightly yellow liquid in the beginning, add water, and the liquid becomes milky white.
