@RonsCompVids Haven’t found any interesting alternatives really. What I see fall down in one way or another, badly.

Time will tell, but right now I’m at no buy at all.

Plus lots of stuff only works with RPis as far as I know, so then there are no alternatives practically. Stuff like #Pi1541 or #pistorm.

@xahmol I am currently using #SD2IEC and #Pi1541 devices, but both have shortcomings that have not been reported by UII+ users, especially when it comes to custom loader routines and disk (image) swapping.

Aside from that, there are so many cool features in this thing that I simply couldn't resist getting one anymore. I still think it's something for the "power-user", as sd2iec will probably serve 90% of people using real hardware well.

@xahmol @peter I simply unplug the cable connecting the internal 1571 with the mainboard. Easy to do as I'm the lucky owner of a plastic #C128D. In fact, I keep it unplugged and only use #SD2IEC or #Pi1541 devices with it. I'm nostalgic and #Retro - but my love for #FloppyDisks has vanished since proper #SDCard solutions became available.

#SixtyClone More testing... Serial port works. After some adjustments modulator replacement prototype works too. The image is sharp and clear. A separate stereo output allows you to connect HiFi set ans enjoy the SIDs 😊

#introduction I enjoyed Twitter for over 15 years and miss the days when SMS was the primary transport. I currently do internal #pentesting and am working on my #OSCP. I am currently building this cartridge, I believe Epyx Fast loader part is based on @svenpetersen191 design. For some reason I can't get the Epyx Fast loader rom to boot. The #pi1541 is working fine, will investigate more tomorrow. BTW, there is a 470nF cap on the other side

My #weekend project is eventually successful! Had many problems to setup the #Pi1541 but after switching from #raspberrypi 3B to 3B+ it worked. Now my #C64 has a new and fancy disk drive! 🤠

Now that #Pi1541 runs on a Pi Zero, that's a much more tidy setup and I've got a Pi3 freed up to do something else with. #retrocomputing

I already have several modern IEC storage options for my Commodores (including a couple of 1541 Ultimate II/II+ cartridges) sooo it's not as if I technically NEED this, but... But I had this Pi lying around and... And, well, you just never know when something like this might come in handy, right? OK? 😬​
