True or not, this is why I’m getting rid of my Echo devices and moving to a self- hosted, locally-controlled voice assistant. Just need to find the time to get it done.

My pet project to turn a #pine64 #rockpro64 into a #picroft #mycroft using the V1 AIY Voicehat by Google seems to have hit a wall. The Voicehat driver is no longer in the kernel and even if it was it seems the driver was written in a BCM specific way even though there's nothing broadcom specific about it and the Rockpro has the same 40 pin bus.
Ordered an inexpensive USB speakerphone to continue testing bout would have loved to get the hat working.
I'm not a kernel dev and sometimes it shows

@gemlog No, but I have plans to build myself a #picroft . I've long wanted a computer I can control by my voice, but having a device that lets Google, Amazon or Microsoft listen to me is creepy.
