Finally got around to brewing this Pilsner. After years of "evening" brewing, I think I've discovered I'm a morning brew person. Also pulled out my goodwill pool table to hit around while watching the boil. 🍻 Cheers everyone!

I am hoping to do some hiking/fly fishing tomorrow, although I may need to work as I need to get some work done by Monday 🥲
A great naming, but I think this beer tastes better after hiking - I was just sitting all day in my office trying get my work done - could not finish…so, drinking this beer - citrusy and bitter, but light feeling - it would tastes much better if I could get some outdoor activities🤔

73 followers · 357 posts · Server mastodon.beerI think sometime soon I’m going to try to brew a Czech Pilsner with the exact same recipe and process (double decoction) except one with Urquell yeast and the other with Budvar yeast. 33 IBU target with Saaz hops only. No other way to really understand the impact of yeast.

Maybe only one more (or less) round of my Schönramer-ish Pils but to the very end it is a beautiful beer. Didn’t get much foam on this nearly last glass but the lacing is still something to appreciate

This is the fastest I’ve had a lager yeast take off. Just 24 hours since I pitched it.
Don’t know if it is because WLP800 is a fast starter or because I’m doing an open ferment this time (just sanitized aluminum foil on top). Happy to see it in any case.

Back home to NZ from Chicago. Was great to see mom and to try so many great Chicago area and imported beers. But I came home to find my Pilsner Urquell glasses have been delivered. So time for a Lukr faucet pour of my Schönramer Pils. Don’t know if this will help or hurt the jet lag.

Au Québec, on n'a peut-être pas de très grands vins, compte tenu de notre climat et de notre expérience relativement nouvelle dans le domaine. Faut se rendre à l'évidence.
Mais pour la bière, mais alors là. On n'a rien à envier à personne.
J'adore les pilsner. Celle-ci (https://www.monsregius.ca/produit/danubia-imperia/) de MonsRegius à Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville en Montérégie est excellente.

First sip is a little over-carbonated, but light citrus combines with a relatively weak malt to give it a very refreshing taste. There seems like there is a bitterness that kind of clamps on with the carbonation, but it dissipates fairly quickly.
