Although I still generally think the ARM Linux desktop experience is pointless due to vendor kernels and general state of mainline support, I still dig my pine64 pinebook pro.

it's not fast, but youtube plays fine at 1080p fullscreen in chromium, and I've got 30% battery remaining after 6 hours of having chromium, webcord and terminal stuff all day.

Currently running an Armbian build of Debian Sid w/ Cinnamon and mainline kernel 6.3

It's kinda sad that the #pinebook pro only has US layouts in their store.

the original white #arm based #pinebook from 2017 is still slow. but makes a wonderful focused environment. and it runs with solarpower ;)

What system are you running on Pine? If Linux, which distribution? Is it #PineBook or maybe #PineBook Pro? I have PBP with #NetBSD, but WiFi driver in not stable and probably #manjarolinux is much better for power saving.

sd card I've been using for a rootfs on my #pinebook pro is wearing out, so trying to install on the emmc again. Couldn't figure out how to run any of the official installers from an already-booted system. None of the official installers initialize the screen properly, so even if I'm booting them, I can't use them to install. Even the debian textmode fallback clobbers the screen settings so nothing is displayed when it boots.

So currently trying the Fedora installer...with a serial console.

I wonder... should I spend my returns on a #pinephone? I really want to get into the @PINE64 ecosystem. Maybe a #pinebook as well.

@maria_kot There's the #PineBook for example. My ThinkPad X1 is not bad but after 10 years of course the battery is a bit overdue for replacement. (I got a replacement but unfortunately it was broken and it has not been restocked in months.)
